Why Don’t Buyers Leave Feedback on Ebay?

What’s all the Fuss About? Who Really Cares?

My friend has got a great record on Ebay! He’s got 100% positive feedback and this is justly deserved because he is a careful and conscientious Ebayer!

He doesn’t use Ebay a lot. He’s never bought anything on it, but over the past three years, since he retired, he has sold quite a few items that were cluttering up his house.

  • He take a range of good quality photos and edits them before uploading.
  • He writes a good, clear advert.
  • He is scrupulously honest.
  • He describes the item exactly.
  • He answers all questions from prospective purchasers.
  • He packages the items beautifully in protective wrapping.
  • He includes a thank you note in the package.
  • Once the item is paid for, come rain or shine, he goes to the post office and despatches the item the next day.

So he asked me WHY, have only about half of his purchasers left him feedback? Just, why don’t buyers leave feedback on Ebay?

The feedback that he has got is very complimentary ….

Great item and great price! Fast delivery!

Perfect! THANK YOU! A+++

Very happy and fast delivery! Many thanks!

and I know that the others who have neglected to leave him feedback must surely be satisfied with their purchases, but why is it, that they can’t be bothered to tell him?

Are they too lazy?

Are they just rude and inconsiderate?

Surely, if he had sold them an item face to face over a counter, they would have the manners to say ‘thank you’?

E.T.A.?

He could understand it, if his ebay items arrived late but if he doesn’t get any feedback he checks the tracking details and the items have arrived on time – so why no Ebay feedback?

So Little Time?

He’s read that giving feedback is time consuming, sellers shouldn’t worry about it, sellers should get a life etc but at the end of the day, the average Ebay seller has probably gone to quite a lot of trouble to earn themselves a few pence and it should just be common courtesy to acknowledge this.

He’s been told that if there was a problem with his sales, the buyer would soon tell him. Yes, the buyers would be quick to complain but are slow to thank.

Oh, Just Get a Life?

He has been told to ‘get a life’ – but he has got a life – a life defined by manners and politeness. Is he wrong to expect this in return?

No!

He’s not the one who’s wrong.

So, let’s give a big hand and a big thank you to all the Ebay buyers in the world who take the trouble to leave feedback!

Thank you letters
