Gardening is good for you – it’s official
There’s nothing like getting out in the garden to improve your mood and your health.
Here’s a few of my favourite ‘must-have’ best gardening tools and gadgets to help you keep your garden looking its best!
Everyone needs a kneeler seat and this one offers superior comfort with an extended kneeling pad, plus it has the added benefit of having pockets each side to store your tools. What’s more it folds up for storage and it’s light to carry. It gets good reviews and would make a great gift.

This kneeling pad may not look that exciting but it’s extra large and extra thick; it’s durable and the manufacturers say that it will not break down or compress over time. It has a one year warranty and would make a great accompaniment to my next recommendation:
The Burgon and Ball knee pads are the best piece of gardening equipment I have ever bought. Simply strap them on with the easily adjustable velcro straps and you can walk around your garden, kneeling when you want to without having to remember to pick up your kneeling pad. The memory foam ensures that they are extremely comfortable. As someone who suffers with arthritis and knee pain, they have allowed me to carry on kneeling to weed my garden and plant my seedlings. I have invested in a second pair which I wear indoors when I’m cleaning! They come in a range of attractive colours and I cannot recommend them highly enough!
If you want to limit the time you spend kneeling then it’s a great idea to invest in one of the garden weeders that allow you to stand and extract weeds right down to their roots. High strength and durable with a comfortable handle the automatic rebound action will allow you to remove weeds with minimum effort. A great addition to your garden shed!

Once you’ve cut your lawn, you simply have to complete the job by edging your borders. First use this garden edger with its half moon shaped blade to cut out a clean, sharp edge around your flower beds. Spear and Jackson are a name you can trust – the company was established in 1760 and manufactures high quality garden tools.
After cutting out your edge simply maintain the crisp look by clipping the edges of your lawn with some long handled edging shears such as these by Wilkinson Sword:
Alternatively, whilst wearing your knee pads, you could get down close to the job and use these clipping shears:
With self sharpening blades made from forged high grade steel these topiary sheep shears are simply a must for all gardeners. I use them to clip my grass edges quickly and efficiently but they can also be used for topiary cutting and pruning ornamental shrubs.
To keep all your new gardening equipment at its best why not invest in a garden storage box. I keep mine on the patio for quick and easy access to all my weeding tools!
Garden storage boxes come in a range of shapes and sizes with some also doubling up as handy garden seats! They can be used for storing tools, cushions from your garden furniture or even storing potting compost. Make sure you buy a waterproof one or check that it’s water resistant and it’s a good idea to cover items inside with a layer of polythene to ensure your precious equipment doesn’t get damp.
That’s a round up of just some of my essential garden equipment – and we haven’t even scratched the surface – you could also check out this great range of gardening gloves and secateurs.
I’m getting outside side now to plant out my cosmos seedlings! Happy gardening!
