What is Crafters Market?
Crafter’s Market is a selling platform for artists, designers and crafts people who are based in the UK. So the question is: can you make money selling online with Crafter’s Market?
What’s Their Story?
Crafter’s Market are very much the new kids on the block – the website was established in early 2021 by the company founders who have expertise in both website design and experience in the crafting market.
What Are They Offering?
Crafter’s Market offer:
- Zero listing fees
- Your own unique shop address
- Secure shopping with Stripe
- A vendor map so customers can shop online – but locally
- Social media advertising
What Can You Sell?
You can sell pretty much anything that you have designed or made yourself including digital downloads. You must be open and transparent about any third parties who have been involved in the making of your products.
Exclusivity?
No, absolutely not – you are free to list the same products that you list on Crafter’s Market on other websites.

Crafter’s Market offer two options for listing on their site:
Basic:
- FREE – no monthly charge
- 5% commission fee on all sales
- Stripe payment provider fees which are currently 1.4% + 20p per transaction
- Product limit: 15 items
- Category limit: 3
- Gallery limit: 5
- SMS order alerts: Yes (so you can start packing up your orders immediately!)
- Product addons
- Shop Analytics: No
- CMU Plus Badge: No
- Messaging: No
- Vacation Mode: No (but who takes a holiday these days??)
Plus:
- £5 per month fee
- 2.5% commission fee on all sales
- Stripe payment provider fees which are currently 1.4% + 20p per transaction
- Product limit: Unlimited
- Gallery limit: Unlimited
- SMS order alerts: Yes
- Product addons: Yes
- Shop Analytics: Yes (Great)
- CMU Plus Badge: Yes
- Messaging: Yes
- Vacation Mode: Yes
So, if you are of a cautious nature, you could start off with a Basic account and then when people start appreciating your talent and the sales roll in, switch up to the Plus account. Or if you already have a good social media following and know you will get sales, you could dive straight in with the Plus account.
Best Sellers in Handmade Products
So How Can You Make Money on Crafter’s Market?
- You register on Crafter’s Market choosing Basic or Plus.
- You open your shop and list the items for sale according the the limits of your chosen plan.
- Crafter’s Market advertises the products to customers via their website and social media.
- Customers order and pay through Crafter’s Market checkout.
- You receive payment through Stripe.
- Crafter’s Market alert you so you can fulfill the order.
- You send the order to the customer.
Pros
You can still sell on other sites.
You can sell personalised items.
You can sell digital downloads.
You can cancel your subscription at any time although you won’t get a refund on your monthly fee.
Cons
Unlike Print On Demand sites, you have to handle all the order and despatch procedures yourself – and don’t forget those customer complaints!
It’s a very new website so probably hasn’t got a huge customer base – yet (time of writing March 2021).
Is it Worth It?
It’s up to you – but consider these facts when deciding if you could make money selling online with Crafter’s Market:
- you could be in at the beginning, and be a bigger fish in a smaller pond compared to some other platforms.
- if you choose the Basic package which is free to list, then what have you got to lose? Nothing!
Consider All the Options
Alternatively, you may like to consider selling online on print on demand sites such as Zazzle or Saatchi Art or Society6.
You could also test the water at Teepublic – please note that if you sign up through this link I would get a small commission!

Hi Vickie, if you sign in to your vendor account > Store Manager > Settings > Store Settings. Here you can set your store phone number so you don’t miss those important sales notifications when you’re out and about 🙂
